Your Representation in the US Congress

Virginia currently has 11 congressional districts. The boundaries of those districts determine:

• Who represents you in the U.S. House of Representatives

• Which communities are grouped together

• The balance of political representation across the Commonwealth

If the amendment passes and new maps are adopted:

• You may be moved into a different congressional district.

• You may have a different U.S. Representative.

• Your district’s political makeup could change.

If the amendment does not pass:

• Your current congressional district remains unchanged until after the 2030 Census.

Election Timing & Costs

Holding a separate April statewide vote means:

• Taxpayer funds are being used to conduct a stand-alone election.

• Local election offices must prepare for and administer an additional voting event.

• Voters will need to participate outside of the traditional November general election schedule.

For voters, this means paying attention to a special election date rather than a regularly scheduled election.
